World Cup 2014: Brazil vs Croatia

The opening game for FIFA World Cup 2014 will be between the host nation Brazil, and Croatia. The game will be on June 12th, the same day as the opening ceremony of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Kick off time will be 4:00 p.m. ET.

Brazil and Croatia are in Group A. The Brazilian team's last game before the World Cup was with Serbia on June 6 where the Brazilians won 1-0. The Brazilians are aiming to get their sixth World Cup title this year. The title has eluded them since 2002, now they are determined to have it. Luiz Felipe Scolari, the Brazilian head coach said in a recent interview that he believes that his team is ready to take on the difficult challenge of owning the cup this year. Here's what Scolari said to FIFA.com:
"As far as our planning for the World Cup is concerned, Brazil is ready. Everything is organized, defined and on the right track. If we stick to this schedule, things are likely to go well for us. If you are a team like Brazil and you take part in a World Cup, everybody expects you to lift the trophy. We are certainly working towards that aim, but with a healthy respect for the other teams that will go into the competition with the same target in mind. Being at home in Brazil, we will use our quality to try and achieve our goal, and if we fall short, it will be because another team simply outplays us."
Of course Croatia is expecting to make a good performance in this World Cup and the best way they can do it is by shocking the world by defeating Brazil in the opening game. The very reason why Croatia is in this tournament is the Trophy and they are going to work hard for that.

Croatia is considered an outsider for the trophy, most football experts believe that Brazil, Argentina, Spain and Germany are the best contender to take home the trophy this year.
