The comedian Joan Rivers has died Thursday at the age of 81. Rivers has suffered a cardiac arrest last week while undergoing a surgery and has been on life support since then. In a written statement, the late comedian's daughter, Melissa Rivers, said that "she passed peacefully at 1:17 p.m. surrounded by family and close friends."
The funeral will be on Sunday at the Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan. There are no details yet of the exact time of the funeral and if it will be a public or private affair.
Rivers has been on life support since last week at the Mount Sinai hospital in Manhattan. She was taken there after she suffered a cardiac and respiratory arrest while going through a minor elective procedure at the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic last week.
